Writing at Regis College
The Regis College Writing Program offers students the opportunity to practice writing for learning and thinking, to communicate their ideas in a thorough, clear way, to affect their audiences through persuasive writing, and to give creative expression to various levels of thinking. We begin with writing instruction in the Core Curriculum complemented by writing in First Year Seminar, then in more advanced courses in the disciplines, students write to research specific topics and material. The Writing Program offers extra help for those who come to college as ESL students or students who need skills enhancement before embarking on their college careers. As well, instructors in many disciplines incorporate writing assignments in their courses; at Regis teaching writing is a community endeavor. Writing across disciplines is supported by a strong Writing Center.
Regis students are given the opportunity to publish their work in the college’s literary magazine, Hemetera, and to participate in and attend readings throughout the year. Regis' Writers Read series brings established writers to campus offering Regis students and the community at large the chance to learn from professional writers.
